Judith A. (Keating) Murray passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026 with family by her side. She was 85 years old.
Born in Boston, MA on June 28, 1940, to Jeffrey J. and Jane Irene (Sullivan) Keating, Judi grew up in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Brighton with her beloved siblings Geoffrey (Jeff), Jane, John (Jack), and Joseph (Joey) Keating. She attended Saint Columbkille School and Regis College on an academic scholarship. Married shortly after graduation, Judi taught Spanish for one year at Scituate High School before starting a family of her own.
A strong, loving, and truly outstanding mother, Judi had six children whom she raised over more than 30 years in Brighton, Scituate, England, Germany, and Cohasset. She masterfully managed multiple transcontinental moves and guided her children through life in three countries and over 20 schools, all while keeping pace with their countless activities with boundless energy and unwavering devotion.
Judi was also the consummate host. Smart and quick-witted, she welcomed friends with lively dinner parties filled with laughter, and few things brought her more joy than gathering her extended family together each year to celebrate the holidays.
Although much of her life was dedicated to raising and supporting her family, she also enjoyed volunteering at the Cohasset Consignment Shop, playing tennis at the Scituate Harbor Yacht Club and at Scituate Racquet, and playing golf at Hatherly Country Club and at clubs near her homes in Vero Beach and Orchid Island, Florida. Judi was also a skilled bridge player and played for many years with friends from Scituate, Cohasset, and Hingham.
Affectionately known as “Omi”, Judi was the center of her extended family’s universe. She was the beloved mother of Maura Locke and her husband Michael of Springfield, VA; Judith Tedeschi and her husband Philip of Cohasset and Boston; Robert (Jr.) and Stephanie Murray of Hingham, Jennifer Lynch and her husband Kevin of Cohasset; Caitlyn Beggan and her husband Matt of Cohasset; and Karyn Ellinger and her husband Doug of Cohasset.
Omi also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren and their spouses: Megan (Locke) Yaguchi; Matthew Locke; Michaela (Locke) Gallo; Mark Locke; Elisa (Tedeschi) LaRochelle; Christina (Tedeschi) Schmied; Chase Murray; Grant Murray; Ella Lynch; Keira Lynch; Finn Beggan; Maryn Beggan; Sam Ellinger; and Max Ellinger. She also leaves four great-grandchildren: Jack Gallo; Mina Yaguchi; Lilly Gallo; and Mari Grace LaRochelle.
Her legacy lives on in the close-knit family she nurtured, including her many nieces and nephews, who also loved her dearly.
A celebration of Judi’s extraordinary life will be held on her birthday, June 28, 2026 from 12 to 3 pm at the Red Lion Inn, 71 South Main Street, Cohasset, MA. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
