IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen
Crosby
July 14, 1949 – December 26, 2023
Karen Farrell Crosby, 74, of Fairfield, California, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2023. She was born on July 14, 1949, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Richard W. Farrell, Sr and Margaret Mary Farrell (Gardner). Karen was a kind, loving, and humorous woman who had a strong sense of loyalty towards her friends and family. She cherished her role as a Nana to her grandchildren, Olivia and Harrison, and always found joy in spending time with them. Karen's giving nature was evident in her everyday life. Karen was a 1967 graduate of Scituate High School in Massachusetts. She went on to attend and graduate from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in 1971 with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education. In her career, Karen dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom, supporting and raising her son, Chris. Later, she became a substitute teacher, working for 20 years across various local schools. Her favorite assignment was in the high school library, where she formed many special bonds and friendships with students and staff. Outside of work, Karen enjoyed boating, bike riding, running, gardening, and most of all, being with her grandkids and family. She found solace and happiness in these activities. Karen was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis this summer and had lost a lot of strength due to the disease. She fell and fractured her hip late November and after surgery struggled with recovery, fighting for a full month before passing. Karen is survived by her loving son Chris Crosby and daughter-in-law Katie Crosby (Bell), grandchildren Olivia and Harrison of Vacaville, CA, sister Nancy Argue and husband Tom of North Hampton, NH, sister Margaret Farrell Bruno (Peggy) and husband Carmine of Marshfield, MA, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Crosby, and her brother, Richard (Rick) W. Farrell, Jr. A celebration of Karen's life will be held on Wednesday, June 26th at 10am at Union Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at Oro Restaurant. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The American Cancer Association or Alzheimer's Association. Additionally, an East Coast celebration of life and burial will take place in the coming summer. Please join us in remembering Karen and celebrating the life she lived.
