Kathleen A. (Souza) Knight, age 49, of Scituate passed away peacefully January 12, 2015 in her home surrounded by her family and friends after a long and courageous battle against cancer. She is survived by her husband, Christopher L. Knight, and children, Lauren A. and Alexander J. Knight, all of Scituate, her mother, Mary Souza, of Dartmouth, MA, her brothers Daniel Souza of Dartmouth, MA, and Steven Souza of Hopkinton, MA, her sister-in-law, Colleen Souza of Hopkinton, MA and nieces, Alyssa, Maura, and Keira Souza of Hopkinton, MA.

After earning her M.Ed. from UMass Amherst in 1987, Kathleen was a high school English teacher in the New Bedford and Dartmouth school systems for eight years before marrying Christopher in 1993 and moving to Scituate in 1995.  She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, friend, and most importantly, an amazing mother to her wonderful children. She loved being a teacher, loved to travel, was a voracious reader, an excellent writer and gardener.  She involved herself in the local community, including serving as President of the Scituate-Cohasset Newcomers Club for several years. She loved being a stay at home mother, was a voracious reader, writer, gardener and home designer. Kathleen lived by example, learning so many things from her parents and said that life goes by in a blink of an eye, so embrace it and do fun things now.

Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset, MA from 10-11:30 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12 noon in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, Scituate Harbor.
