Kathryn Burke Antonez, age 81, of Hingham, MA. passed away on February 6, 2014. Kathryn was born in New York, NY. on Nov. 10, 1932. She graduated from Norwalk, CT High School and continued on to receive a degree from St. Raphael's Hospital School of Nursing, New Haven, CT.
Kathryn was married to Jacob John Antonez for 51 years. Kathryn worked as a Registered Nurse early in her marriage while raising a family in Redding, CT. She and her husband Jake also owned and operated the restaurant The Mad Hatter in St. Simons Island, GA. for a number of years before retiring to Boca Raton, FL. to spend more time with their grandchildren. Upon Jake's passing, she moved to Hingham, MA., where spent her remaining years at the Shipyard in Hingham. Kathryn enjoyed writing short stories, and spending time with friends, family and her beloved companion Catty. She was also actively involved in all operations at her grandson's candy business in Cohasset, MA.
Kathryn is survived by six children, fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and other family and friends. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Jacob John Antonez, and her parents, Gertrude and Albert Burke.
Kathryn will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, quick wit, and the ability to make everyone who knew her smile. A true "Spark Plug" that lit up every room she entered.
Kathryn wished to be cremated and a future private service is planned.
Kathryn's family wishes to thank the Hingham Fire Dept., Hingham EMS and the fantastic staff at the South Shore Hospital, especially in the emergency room and the nurses of Pratt Station 3rd Floor.
