Kenneth G. Baker, 86, of Scituate, MA passed away October 2, 2024.

Born in South Boston, MA in 1938, Ken was the youngest son of Joseph and Alice Baker. For 58 years Ken was the loving husband of Val Baker (Cadegan). Married in 1966, Ken and Val moved to Scituate where they raised their family.  Ken is survived by two children, Elizabeth O'Connell and husband Bob and their children Anna and Michael, and Kenny Baker and his wife Suzanne and their children Jenna and Ryan, all of Scituate. Ken also enjoyed the constant love, support and humor of his two wonderful sisters-in-law and their husbands, Beth Bayuk and the late Stewart Bayuk and Marge and Paul Carroll. He is also survived by many treasured nieces and nephews.

Ken was a proud and talented member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #4 for 60 years, operating cranes with skill and precision around the city of Boston and beyond.  Ken had a combined 30 years of military service which included the National Guard, the United States Army (active duty) and the U.S. Coast Guard (reserves).

Locally, after retirement, Ken enjoyed his third career as a terrific volunteer.  Ken was an active member of the St. Mary of the Nativity Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. The Society provides needs assistance to any Scituate resident experiencing hardship.  In addition, he volunteered at the Scituate Public Library, the Scituate Food Pantry, and the Scituate Etrusco.

What Ken loved most was being with family and friends. He was an attentive listener, had a curious mind and was generous with his time and talents.
