Laura E. (Emilson) Riekert, of Marshfield, passed away on January 13, 2011. Born in Quincy in 1956, Laura attended schools in Weymouth and Cohasset, graduating from Cohasset High School in 1974. She then attended Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire, graduating with Honors in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

As a child, Laura was an excellent athlete, excelling in skiing and tennis, a skill, which she turned into a profession later in her career. She entered into business for several years, which led her into the marketing of computers. While she achieved much recognition for her work with computers, her keen interest in tennis and working with and teaching children finally influenced her to change direction. She especially enjoyed working with special needs children, who often showed a particular fondness for her and her passion for helping them.

Laura also enjoyed traveling with her family as they vacationed to various parts of the world. She had married Kenneth Riekert in and made their home in Marshfield. Her husband, Ken, predeceased her by many years.

Laura is survived by her parents, Herb and Paulie Emilson of Marshfield, her sister, Karen McArdle and her husband Douglas of Marshfield and two brothers, Carl and David, both of whom reside with their families in Stuart, Florida.

A Private Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, followed by a private interment.
