Obituary

Leonard Yoshimoto Nason

February 17, 1954 – January 26, 2025

Leonard Yoshimoto Nason of Cohasset, Massachusetts, age 70, passed away on January 26, 2025, surrounded by his daughters. Beloved son of the late Leonard Hastings Nason and Mary (Yukiko) Sturges of New York. Devoted father of Victoria O'Brien and her husband Doug, Kelsey Dellovo and her husband Eric, and Jennifer Henesey and her husband Brian. Grandfather (Obi) to Olivia and Teddy O'Brien, Madison and Dylan Dellovo, and Ava Henesey, with another grandson on the way. He is also survived by his sister Kini and his beloved friend and companion Suzanne Barr.

Lenny grew up in New York, where he attended Fordham Preparatory School (1972) in the Bronx and developed a love for the Mets, Jets, and everything New York had to offer. He went on to graduate from Tufts University (1976), where he met the mother of his children, Linda Thayer, and then Northeastern University School of Law (1979), where he made lifelong friends. He raised his family in Lexington, Massachusetts, where his days were spent coaching his three daughters in three different sports, playing softball for the Goodtimers, litigating in the courtroom, singing and playing guitar, and leading his band, Trial Run. He had a passion for his work and successfully handled several landmark workers' compensation cases, authored numerous publications, and was a fierce advocate for the Massachusetts worker.

Lenny loved to be on stage and never met a sport he didn't like. He sought adventure on the water everywhere he could, whether it was at the helm of a sailboat, fishing or surfing the waves on Nantucket and Fire Island, or whitewater rafting on the Colorado River. An avid photographer, he never missed a chance to capture any given moment.

A celebration of life will be held at Hancock Church in Lexington on March 14, 2025 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Lenny's name may be made to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (select gift designation for InSPIRE Fund for clinical research).
