Leonard N. Paulson, of Norwell, died unexpectedly on January 14, 2011 after a brief illness. He was born in Boston in 1935, and had lived in Norwell for the past 46 years. He was the loving husband of Claire (Donahue) Paulson, and beloved father of Erik of Norwell, Kristen and her husband Vinh Nguyen of Jamaica Plain, Kurt and his wife, Megan Paulson of Andover, and Lauren and her husband Paul Marble of Sandwich. He will be missed by his cherished grandchildren, Annika Paulson, Daniel Paulson and Lily Nguyen and Daniel's new little sibling due in May.

He is survived by his dear brothers, Frederick Paulson of Templeton, Carl Paulson and Marie of Watertown, and Robert and Ruth Paulson of Thornton, NH. He will be sorely missed by his sisters and brothers in law, with whom he enjoyed many happy times: Malcolm Johnston, husband of the late Marilyn Johnston, Nancy Donahue, wife of the late John Donahue, Pat and Irwin Langille, Helen and Ed Caffrey, and Dan and Linda Donahue.

Son of the late Nils Paulson and Anna Martha (Bergler) Paulson, he was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and enjoyed a distinguished 43 year career with the FAA in NAVAIDS at Logan Airport, retiring in 1999.

Len enjoyed the outdoors and was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, Winnipesaukee Sportsmen's Club and the Loon Preservation Society, both in Moultonborough NH, the Audubon Society, Boston Museum of Science, and the Aquarium. He was a life member of the NRA. Len was happiest at Lake Winnipesaukee, where he and his family enjoyed summer months for 35 years.

Visiting hours

Family and Friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, Jan. 19 from 4-8 pm at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center.

Service Information

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 11 am in St. Helen Church, 383 Washington St., Norwell, MA.
