Lois Francis Silvia, 95, of Cohasset, Massachusetts, died on January 13, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Lois was born in Warren, Maine on December 27, 1927, and after living in several other states, settled in Scituate, MA during her high school years. Her husband, Jack Silvia, a lobster fisherman and lifetime resident of Cohasset, predeceased her in 2000 after 50 years of marriage. She is survived by 4 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, all from Cohasset: Jack P. Silvia (Ann), Dale Silvia, Dana Silvia (Andrea), and Kenn Silvia (Diane). Lois leaves behind 9 grandchildren: Katie, Kenn, Dana, Mary, Amelia, Sean, Jennifer, Amber, and Joe; as well as 8 great-grandchildren: Emma, Mason, Morgan, Christian, Nicholas, Fiona, Myles, and Austin. She also leaves behind her beloved niece Toni Dee Halpern of Sarasota, FL.

Lois was a trailblazer in her own right. It didn't take long for her to develop the love for motorcycling she shared with her husband Jack. Rather than settle for being a passenger, Lois quickly became a proficient motorcycle driver, starting out with her own custom Indian and moving up to a classic purple Triumph 500 complete with fur seat covers. Lois and Jack enjoyed many New England cruises on their Triumphs, often with their sons in tow. All the while, Lois ran the family lobster shop formerly located on the property, near the dock where her husband and sons would land their catch. Always with an eagle eye on the harbor, Lois flawlessly juggled raising four sons while running the busy retail business.

Lois was the matriarch of a Cohasset generational family. She became a second mother to her sons' friends, and her house became a second home to many over the years. She was a true Cohasset icon, and is described as a great lady, a ball of fire, a legend, one-of-a-kind, and above all, a strong and kind woman.

Visiting hours are Saturday, January 21, from 9-10:30 at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer Street, Cohasset. Interment will take place immediately afterwards at the Woodside Cemetery in Cohasset, MA.
