Loring R. Besse, age 90, of Scituate, formerly of Cohasset, passed away on November 4, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Clare M. (Cunningham). Devoted father of Lorraine M. Cunningham of Cohasset, Josselyn Besse Shaughnessey of No. Andover, Loring R. Besse, Jr. of Scituate, and the late Richard Loring Besse and Sandra A. Kruggel.  Brother of the late Barbara Austin. Loving grandfather of Robert and Adam Kruggel, Melissa Molchan, James Besse, Tina Femia, Josselyn Palmer, Theresa Besse, Sarah Alden, Brendan and Coleen Shaugnessy, the late Matthew Kruggel, as well as 14 great-grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Loring was a graduate of Mass. Maritime Academy and was a retired Engineer, having worked at the Formica Corp. He was a well-known South Shore Wood Craftsman and was an active member of St. Anthony Church, Cohasset for over 30 years. Mr. Besse was a veteran of World War II and Korea, serving in the US Navy. Mr. Besse was especially proud of his Mayflower lineage.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11 am in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. Visiting hours omitted. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Loring may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758517, Topeka, KS. 66675.
