Louise (Hammock) Edmonds, age 100, of Norwell, formerly of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on February 25, 2013. Beloved wife of the late Waverly M. Edmonds. Loving mother of Phyllis Yanarella and her husband, Warren of Norwell. Cherished grandmother of Lynn Kopas of North Attleboro and Dean Yanarella, his wife Barbara and their family of Rockland. Louise was the loving sister of four brothers and one sister, who all preceded her in death. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Louise was employed by the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the Vital Statistics Department until she moved to Norwell in 1965. She desired to continue working, after moving to North, and was employed by the South Shore Medical Center, Norwell in the business office from 1970 until she retired in 1989 at the age of 77. Louise was a charter member of the United Church of Christ in Norwell and at her death was the oldest living member of UCC Norwell. She was an avid reader and a talented and skilled seamstress. Louise enjoyed baking, making homemade jams, quilting and crocheting afghans, all of which she lovingly gave to others.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 2 pm in the United Church of Christ, 460 Main St. (Rt. 123), Norwell, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Louise may be made to the U.C.C. Capital Campaign, 460 Main St., Norwell, MA. 02061 or to a charity of one's choice.
