Mark Vincent Lynsky, Jr., age 99, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 14, 2022.  Mark was born in Boston on August 1, 1923, to loving parents Mark Vincent Lynsky Sr. and Elizabeth (Reidy) Lynsky.

Growing up Mark and his family summered in Scituate, and Mark worked as a caddy at Hatherly Country Club.  Mark graduated from Mission High in 1941 and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy.  During World War II, he was assigned to the submarine fleet.  Mark served aboard the submarine USS Flying Fish in the Pacific, which was one of eight submarines deployed to the Sea of Japan.  He also served on the USS Redwood and the USS Marcasite as a Motor Machinist's Mate, First Class.

After World War II, Mark was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1945.  He then reenlisted during the Korean War and was assigned to the USS Piper from 1950 to 1952.  While serving his country during this time, Mark suffered a horrific injury aboard the Piper leaving him blind in one eye.  He was once again honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946 as a disabled veteran.  During his Naval career, he received the World War II Victory Medal and the Submarine Combat Medal.  After World War II, Mark went to work for the Boston Edison Company as an engineer, where he was employed for 41 years.

Mark traveled the world while in the Navy and in the decades that followed.  He especially enjoyed cruises and traveling to places that included Aruba, Greece, Hawaii, Bermuda, and the Caribbean Islands.  After retiring, he split his time between Marco Island, FL and Yarmouth Port, Cape Cod.  Mark loved his home on the Cape and enjoyed relaxing on the porch just reading a good book.  Mark and his second wife Roberta were actively involved with their church, St. Pius, in South Yarmouth.  One of Mark's favorite hobbies was raising and training Siberian Huskies to be show dogs.  He traveled to competitions all over New England and his dogs won many awards, including best of breed.

Mark was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor (Cataldo) Lynsky and Roberta "Bobbi" (Wood) Lynsky.  He was also the brother of the late Jane (Lynsky) Sessler and Mary (Lynsky) Brennan.  Mark was also the loving father of two daughters, Deborah M. Shannon (Ronald) of Norwell and Diane Reysenbach (Alexander) of Belgium.  He is also by survived by his grandson Matthew, and his grandson Bryan and his wife Alicia.  Mark is survived by his brother-in-law Paul Sessler as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, October 18th from 4-7pm at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home located at 30 Central Street, Norwell.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 19, at 10am at St. Mary's Church located at 1 Kent Street, Scituate, with interment following after at the Washington Street Cemetery in Norwell.
