Mary Constance (Desmond) Lizotte of Norwell and Maine, died suddenly this past Monday, September 24, 2012. She was 76.
Mary was a highly accomplished professional watercolor artist, winning numerous awards throughout New England. Some of her best work was the Maine coast as well as through her travels around the world.
Her watercolors were featured this summer at Port Clyde Art Gallery. Mary painted in Maine for years — night, fog, storms, gardens all enchanted and inspired her work. A graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art and the Boston University College of Education, she exhibited throughout New England and New York and was the recipient of more than 25 awards for her work including the Copley Master Award from the Copley Society.She was also a semi-professional gardener and horticulturalist. She was a longtime member of the International Lilac Society.
Mary is survived by her husband David, to whom she was married for 53 years, her sister Judy, her brother-in-law Bill, numerous cousins, her three sons Ned, Matt and Tim, her daughter-in-law Renee and six grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 11 am in St. Thecla Catholic Church, 145 Washington St. (Rt. 53), Pembroke, MA. followed by an interment at Church Hill Cemetery, Norwell. Relatives and friends invited to visiting hours at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 from 3-6 pm.
