Mary C. Eliot, age 91, of Marshfield, died on Friday, November 7, 2014. She leaves her cousins Bill and Teresa Morton of CA, Geoffrey Kerr of MA, and Alexander Duncan Kerr, Jr. of IL.

Mary spent many years as a teacher and administrator at Shady Hill School in Cambridge and served in leadership roles at NAIS and ISAM. She was a devoted and inspiring teacher, mentor, colleague, and friend. She was also a talented painter, an accomplished gardener, and an enthusiastic supporter of the Trustees of Reservations and the North River Watershed Association. She was passionate about politics and active in a variety of progressive causes.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated at First Parish of Norwell, Unitarian Universalist, 24 River Street, Norwell, MA on Thursday, November 20 at 11:00 AM. An event to celebrate her life will also be held at Shady Hill School in the early spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The James Library & Center for the Arts in Norwell (24 West St., PO Box 164, Norwell, MA 02061) and Shady Hill School's Teacher Training Course (178 Coolidge Hill, Cambridge, MA 02138).
