Mary-Ellen "Mimi" Maich, age 59, of Cohasset, MA. and Kiawah Is., S.C. passed from this world after a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer on December 10, 2010. Mimi is survived by her beloved husband of 31 years, Peter, and her loving son, William. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Massimino, his wife Jody, her nephews Jason, Joseph, and his wife Cindy, her mother in law Marie Maich, her sister in law Patricia Maich, her brother in law Paul Maich, his wife Jessica, her nieces Kate, Hilary, Emily and her husband, Chris.
Mimi was born June 21, 1951 in Newark, NJ. After graduating from the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in New York City, she pursued a successful career in the fashion industry, where she traveled to Europe and Asia for over a decade. Mimi and Peter moved to Boston in 1978 and then to Cohasset in 1982. In 1985 Mimi left her job as Vice President, Namco Sales to begin a new career as a full time mother to her son.
Mimi loved helping others as exemplified by her involvement with Dana Farber Cancer Institute, volunteering there for over 20 years and also served as the President of the Jimmy Fund Council of Boston for 3 years. Mimi was a long time supporter of the Cohasset Educational Foundation and member of the Board of Trustees of South Shore Hospital. Mimi enjoyed golf, working in her beautiful garden and especially enjoyed the arts. She was a long time supporter of the South Shore Arts Center and was a gifted painter. In addition to her passion for travel, Mimi loved Sandy Beach, Cohasset, was a voracious reader, and above all, cherished a good movie and a glass of wine. She was a devoted, loving wife and mother, who cared so much about her family and her many wonderful friends.

Service Information
A service to celebrate Mimi's life will be held on December 18, 2010 at 2 pm in St. Anthony's Church, 10 Summer St, Cohasset.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute to honor Dr. Patrick Wen and his staff who valiantly waged the battle with us.
