Mary "Betty" N. (Noonan) Grassie, age 89, a lifelong resident of Cohasset, passed
peacefully on March 29, 2011. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Paul A. Grassie
and the devoted mother of Richard P. of Plymouth and Carol Grassie Beggan of
Hull, formerly of Cohasset. She was the beloved sister of the late Nancy N. Wright of
Hingham, and the late Robert M. Noonan of Scottsdale, AZ. She is also survived by 6
grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was a graduate of Cohasset High School, Class of 1939. She attended the Perry
Normal School in Boston with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She worked for
17 years as the director and teacher at the Cohasset Community Center Nursery School, and she also ran a Summer Beach School for local children at Sandy Beach. Betty was subsequently appointed Director of the Wilder Memorial Nursery School in Hingham where she taught for 20 years before retiring. She later worked for Talbots, Inc. in Hingham in customer sales. Betty was a member of the Cohasset Historical Society, the Cohasset Senior Center, Friends of the Cohasset Senior Center and chairman of the Town Committee. She also served as an elected member of the Cohasset Housing Authority.

Service Information

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 11 am in St. Anthony
Church, Cohasset.

Interment Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset.

In lieu of flowers, donation in Betty's memory may be made to the Cohasset Senior
Center, 3 No. Main St., Cohasset, MA. 02025.
