Mary Douglas Nisula

Mary Douglas Nisula, 78, of Hanover, Massachusetts, passed away on June 25, 2026 in Providence, Rhode Island.
Mary was born and raised in Cohasset. She went on to attend Wheelock College in Boston. She taught special needs students in Denver and Florida before returning to the South Shore.
Mary was a very loving mother, daughter and sister. She devoted many years to hospice volunteering at Norwell VNA and Hospice and gave generously to numerous charities. She touched countless lives with her kindness and warmth, maintaining a large circle of friends who knew her as someone always ready to offer support and compassion. She loved music, whether it was time she spent in local choruses or just having music on in her home or car and singing along. She was also a lifelong dog lover who cherished many beloved pets over the years, including Max, Lily, and her little dachshund Olive.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alice (Stewart) and Arthur Nisula; her sister, Ann Richmond Nisula; and her son, Philip.
Mary will be laid to rest in the family plot at Cohasset Central Cemetery. She will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends whose lives she enriched with her gentle spirit, generosity, and loving heart.
