Mary K. (Buckley) Rooney

Mary K. (Buckley) Rooney, age 83, of Cohasset, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026. Mary was the beloved wife of Deacon Paul S. Rooney and loving mother of James J. Rooney and his wife Fidelma Fitzpatrick of Buffalo, NY, Christine A. Lotterhand and her husband Stephen of Reading, MA, and Denis P. Rooney and his wife Anya of Marshfield, MA. Loving grandmother of John, Owen, and Katherine Rooney of Buffalo, NY, Madeline Lotterhand of Reading, MA, and Tyler and Brianna Rooney of Marshfield, MA. Sister of the late Denis J. Buckley and Arthur E. Buckley and sister-in-law of Arthur’s wife, Christine Buckley. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Born and raised in Boston, Mary graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School and Boston State College. She taught first grade for years in Brockton and later in Virginia. Mary was very active in St. Anthony’s Parish, Cohasset, and was the parish’s longtime wedding coordinator.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday, February 22, 2026, from 12-3 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St., Cohasset, MA 02025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 11 am in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. Interment Beechwood Cemetery, Cohasset. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Mary may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 320 Nevada St, Suite 201 Newton, MA 02460.
