Mary P. (Phillips) Wattendorf, age 93, a long-time resident of Scituate, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2019. Born in Dorchester, Mary lived in Milton before moving to Scituate. She lived a life devoted to her family and her faith. For many years, she was a regular at 7am daily Mass at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, where Mary also served on the Altar Society and as an Extraordinary Minister of Communion. She was devoted to praying the rosary and participated in several pilgrimages to Medjugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Mary loved spending time on the beach at Third Cliff with friends and family and was a long-time member of the Senior Ladies Bowling League at Satuit Bowlaway. Mary's generous commitment to her family extended to include cousins and her many nieces and nephews; she delighted in hosting family gatherings.
Mary was the wife of the late William C. Wattendorf. Daughter of the late Thomas F. and Margaret Mary (Johnston) Phillips. Mary was the loving mother of Maryann Wattendorf and husband Ed Marcantonio of Westwood, Susan Shawn and husband David of Beverly, and William Wattendorf of Marshfield. She was the adored Nana of Julia Marcantonio, Emily Shawn, Nikki Shawn, and Chloe Vitali. She was the beloved sister of Joseph "Bud" Phillips of Milton, and predeceased by her sister Frances, brothers, Martin, Robert, Edward, and Thomas Phillips. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends are invited to celebrate Mary on Saturday July 6, 2019 during a visiting hour from 10- 11 am in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St, Scituate Harbor, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Interment St. Mary of the Nativity Cemetery, Scituate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
