DI IORIO, Matilda Dale (Brereton) Of Norwell,MA, age 82, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 4, 2026. She was the wife of Edmund S Di Iorio.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA to Matilda Hood Brereton and Randle Brereton, Dale was educated at the Ellis School in Pittsburgh, Grier School in Tyrone, PA, and Garland Junior College in Boston where she earned an associate's degree in early child education in 1993. After graduation she worked as an administrative assistant at Simmons College (now university) School of Social Work in Boston.
After marriage in 1968, she moved to Norwell and raised a family of 2 sons. She was elected president of Norwell's Osborne Elementary School's PTA, and initiated and oversaw two very successful Christmas Fairs that sponsored so many extra trips and activities for that school's students and also established a college scholarship for an Osborne School attendee. She also taught part time at the First Parish Nursery School in Norwell for a short time.
Dale's large effort was being seriously involved with the Norwell Food Pantry from its inception in 1991 until 2025. Many hours spent serving the people and after hours stocking shelves and keeping everything shipshape.
She is survived by her husband and two sons and their families namely, Christopher and Darcy Di Iorio and their two sons Ryder and Wells of Scituate, MA and Timothy and Amy Di Iorio and their two daughters Emma and Brooke of Lakewood, CO. She is "Bammy" to her four grandchildren. Also, she is survived by her sister Eugenia Senneville and her husband Tony of Windermere, FL.
Burial will be at Stetson Meadows Cemetery in Norwell. A celebration of her life by family members will take place at a later date.
