Melvin Gauley, age 83, of Hanover, formerly of Norwell, died peacefully with family on October 22, 2010. Melvin was a graduate of Norwell High School and was a Union Carpenter with the Brockton Local. He had worked for the Shortall Company as well as at the Fore River Shipyard.

Melvin was the beloved husband of the late Nettie (Emerson) and the loving father of Kathie Sheppard and her late husband, Jim of Sandwich; Mel Gauley of Bourne; Bob Gauley and his wife, Kathy of Norwell; Barbara Furtado of Abington. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours from 11 am to 1 pm prior to service on Wed., Nov. 3.

Service Information

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 at 1 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center, MA 02061.

Interment Washington Street Cemetery, Norwell.
