Obituary

On Monday, February 13, 2023, Michael F. Anderson, loving husband to wife Nancy Anderson, father to Michelle Sheerin and grandson Michael Sheerin and beloved son Erik Anderson passed away in his home at the age of 79.

Michael was born on April 17, 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts to Virginia and Frank Anderson. Michael was the second oldest to nine children who were living in Dorchester, Massachusetts and eventually the family moved to Cohasset. After graduating Cohasset High School in 1961 his dream was to become a marine and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. for 5 years.  However, near the completion of his 5yr duty, President Johnson extended his tour for another 6mos as a combat engineer building runways in Vietnam which is where he lost the majority of his hearing. Michael completed his tour of duty in January 1966 and it was shortly after he met his soon to be wife, Nancy coming home from a hunting trip. Michael and Nancy fell in love and was married November 19, 1966 in Cohasset, Mass.

Michael and Nancy purchased land in Norwell in 1970, cleared the land and built their home with the help of family and friends who were skilled contractors.  In May, 1970 their first child was born, daughter Michelle and all moved into the house in November, 1970.In December 1973 Michael and Nancy gave birth to their second child Erik. Then shortly after in 1974 Mike became a proud Local 7 Boston Union Iron Worker where he continued working for 48 years before having to take an early retirement due to a fall. Michael's passions were being a marine, union iron worker, taking care of his home and caring for his family (immediate and extended), family meant the world to him. He loved taking care of his loved ones and his home, watching Boston sports, traveling with his wife and family, and driving in his convertible with the top down in the summer listening to his favorite music. He also enjoyed spending the day at the beach on a hot day either at Nantasket or when vacationing in Marco Island Florida.  When he was able to relax in his back- yard he would spend time either in his hammock, swimming in the pool, or hanging out at the gazebo while either watching the Patriots or Red Sox or listening to his favorite music while enjoying 5 o'clock cocktail hour. ( which usually was a grand gold margarita with 3 cubes ;) He was known for his big heart, great sense of humor, and his love for story-telling to whoever would listen to him. He was a devoted catholic who was kind, compassionate and had a protective spirit towards  everyone he loved.

Michael was preceded in his death by his son Erik, sister Marie Peterson, Patty Gallagher and Chrissy Anderson. He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Michelle and grandson Michael. He also is survived by his Uncle John Farrow, and Aunt Maryanne Farrow, brother Steven Anderson, and sisters Kathy Hicks, Karen O'Brien, Barbara Welsh and Dotty Woodruff as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
