Michael A. Caputo, age 80, a long-time resident of Scituate, passed away suddenly on January 4, 2014. Husband of Juanita (Turco) Caputo and beloved father of Maureen Denton, Marianne Richards, Elise Canfield and husband Glenn, Christina Fenton and husband Bobby, Anthony Caputo and girlfriend Leslie McKeever, and the late Nicola Caputo-Mortland. Brother of Charles Caputo, Marianne Caputo, Joseph Caputo, Carolyne Caputo, Elena Caputo, Camille Caputo-Niedzwiecki, and John Caputo. Adoring grandfather of Michelle Denton, Evan Richards, Kyle, Cole, Amelia, and Adam Canfield, Kayla Lynn Mortland, Michael Caputo, and Nicholas, Robert and Sylvianna Fenton. Longtime friend of Helena (Schumejko) and Michael Wheeler.
Mickey was veteran of the US Navy, serving on USS Lioba from 1952-1956 during Korea. Mario, which was his birth name, worked as a Massachusetts State Inspector for the Department of Safety until his retirement. He was also an engineer with the Local 29, Boilermakers until he retired.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 10 am in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate Harbor. Visiting hours Friday, January 10, 2014 from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center. Interment Mt Hope Cemetery, Scituate.
