Michael R. Rezendes, 62, of Scituate MA, passed away on Saturday January 9, 2016 after an 18-month battle with Esophageal Cancer, surrounded by his family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Kathleen (Kilduff), and three loving daughters Lauren, Andrea and Patricia Rezendes all of Scituate, MA; beloved parents Joseph and Evelyn (Bettencourt) Rezendes, of Daytona Beach, FL. Also by his brother, Kenneth Rezendes of Tiverton, RI, his sister, Kathleen Pimental of New Smyrna Beach, Fl, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Michael was a graduate of Tiverton High School, Northeastern University, and Suffolk Law School. He had a personal injury law practice in Quincy, MA for 35 years, and was the 2016 president-elect of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys.
Besides his family, Michael's greatest passion was his music. He was a talented guitarist who loved playing the music of Santana, Steely Dan and Johnny A. Throughout his life he played in many bands, and performed back-up to nationally-known artists. An avid pilot, Michael flew many different types of aircraft, and was a member of the Eclipse Jet Owners and Pilots Association. He loved flying his family on vacations to Disney World, to the U.S. National Parks, as well as internationally to Europe and Costa Rica. Another hobby of Michael's was carpentry and cabinet-making. Prior to attending law school, he handcrafted Early-American Style furniture for private customers in Rhode Island. Later, in 1983 he built his family home in Scituate. Michael was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf with his wife and friends on beautiful courses wherever he was. He was a member of the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, FL, and the Hatherly Country Club in Scituate. He was truly a Renaissance man.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 12th from 4p.m to 8 p.m at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St., Cohasset, MA. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 13th at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, Cohasset, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the charity of your choice.
