Obituary

Miriam Delano (Osborne) Allen Miriam was a lifelong resident of Norwell.  She was born May 12, 1928 in the Line House in Assinippi.   She grew up on the Osborne family farm at 296 Main Street.  After she married, she and her husband, Dick, lived and raised their family in the house they built on Bowker Street.  She died peacefully at her home on January 3, 2023. Miriam graduated from Bridgewater State College as a physical education major.  She went on to teach, mostly as a kindergarten teacher in Hanover.  She was an amazing teacher, always finding a way to reach any child. She was an early practitioner and teacher of Yoga. Miriam led an active life. She rode horses around Norwell and played basketball on the school team.  She played and taught tennis and golf, walked Bowker Street daily, enjoyed a jog along the beach and attended Tai Chi classes through the Norwell COA.  She loved dancing and gardening.  She knit and quilted.  Miriam doodled and drew.  She was well known for her inspirational iPad art. Throughout her life, she provided love and support to many.  She loved and was loved dearly by those she leaves behind: Children Mark, Brad, Richie and Rebecca: Grandchildren Jonathan, Lisa, Mike, Sarah and Sebastian: and Great grandchildren Jake, Callie Miriam, Talon, Sophia, Emmett, and Theodore.  Her sister Millie and brother David. Miriam was a treasure. Miriam will be remembered for her hugs, her warmth, love of life and people, her generosity of spirit and great sense of fun. Hers was a long life well lived. During the last few months of Miriam's life, she was able to stay in her home thanks to the help from the Norwell VNA/Hospice.  If anyone would like to make any donations in her memory, please choose the Norwell VNA.
