Molly (Zussman) Learner

Molly (Zussman) Learner passed away peacefully at the remarkable age of 108 years old, in her apartment at Linden Ponds Senior Living Community in Hingham, MA, on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Molly was born in East Boston on February 20, 1918, to parents Joseph and Ethel Zussman, recent immigrants from Russia. She grew up with her 3 siblings in the Boston area, where their father, Joseph, became a prominent and respected member of the local Jewish community.

Molly married her late husband Nathan Learner, a lawyer and math teacher, at the Bradford Hotel in Boston, shortly after World War II. They had one daughter, Judy, and raised her in a traditional Jewish household in Quincy, MA. Judy was later married to Richard (Rick) Nichols, and they had their own daughter, Jamie. In Judy’s marriage to Rick, Molly also gained two step-grandchildren, and later step-great grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as “Bubbe Molly.”

After years of retirement in Florida, Molly returned to Massachusetts to reside at the Linden Ponds Community, where she remained in independent living for almost twenty years. It was only during the summer of 2026 that Molly (notoriously stubborn!) moved to an apartment with additional assistance within her community. She spent the summer playing bingo, having her hair done at the salon, and going for her daily walks. She remained sharp-witted, and was treasured by her surrounding community.

She is survived by her devoted granddaughter, Jamie, and son-in-law, Rick, as well as her step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loving members of her extended family. Friends and staff-members at Linden Ponds will undoubtedly continue to carry her memory. In her passing, we take comfort in envisioning Molly as being reunited with her family, namely, her adoring daughter, Judy.

A traditional graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 11am at the Chevra Mishnias Anshe Sfarad of East Boston- 11 Washington Street, WOBURN, Ma. Relatives and friends invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Molly's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.

May Molly’s memory forever be a blessing.
