Muriel D. (Downing) Silvia, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2015 at the age of 84. Born in Marblehead, she was the loving daughter of Grace and Earl Downing and the beloved wife of the late Harry M. Silvia. Devoted mother of Robert and his wife Alyson, Donald and his wife Jennifer, and Harry and his wife Sharon. Loving Nana to D.J., Robert, Nicholas, Chelsea, Shelby, and Shannon, who were the joy of her life.

Upon her graduation from Beaver College, now Arcadia College, in Pennsylvania, Muriel moved to the South Shore to teach in the Hanover Public School system. In the 1960's, Muriel and her husband, Harry, formed Pioneer Welding Inc., where she served for many years as the company's Accountant. Along with helping to run the family business, Muriel also served as accountant for shoe importer Ryco, Inc. Never one to sit still, Muriel continued to work well into her seventies as a customer service representative for AAA in Rockland. Upon her retirement, Muriel continued to be a force of nature and provided countless hours of love and support to her children and grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday Feb. 7, 2015 at 11 am in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 16 Highland Ave., Cohasset, MA. 02025.
