Nancy L. (DeMello) McAvenia passed away on November 27, 2022 at the Cardigan Nursing Home after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Nancy was born in Cohasset Ma. the daughter of Frank Demello and Priscilla (Burleigh) Demello. She is survived by her children Doreen Cournoyer (David) of New Hampshire, James Dooner of Maine, Donald Dooner (Debbie) of Rockland & Daniel Dooner of Maine. Nancy is also survived by 10 grandchildren & 14 great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late David Dooner and grandmother of the late Kyle Dooner. Nancy was also the wife of the late Hugh McAvenia. She is survived by her sister Judith Robinson and brother James DeMello of Scituate. She is predeceased by her sister Carol Francis and brother Francis Demello.Nancy also leaves behind many nieces & nephews & great nieces & nephews. Nancy was a home health aide for over 30 years for South Shore Hospice. She won an award from the State of Massachusetts for her multiple years of service. Nancy was President of The Union Mission Chapel for many years. She loved feeding the birds in her backyard, working in her gardens and reading. She also loved to bake & was known for her blueberry muffins. Her cookie tin was always full awaiting visits from her grandchildren. Most of all Nancy loved spending time with her family.
