Olga Koval Sawchuk, age 92, of Cohasset passed away peacefully on January 2, 2013 after a short stay at South Shore Hospital.  She was pre-deceased by her husband, Michael Sawchuk, WWII Veteran and Past High Priest of Konohasset Lodge, Cohasset, and her brothers John and George Koval. She is survived by five children she lovingly raised, Gregory Koval of Johnson City, TN, Barbara Koval Hacunda and husband, George, of Quincy, Dorothy Sawchuk Wemett of Lunenburg,  Wayne Sawchuk and wife, Annette, of Cohasset, and Dr. Brian Sawchuk and wife, Susan, of Clinton, CT.  She leaves 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Olga was proud that she graduated "two times" from high school.  She attended Girls High during the day and Boston High during the evenings to assist her parents, Mary and Harry, immigrants from the Ukraine to ensure they would pass their naturalization tests.  The family was so proud to become US citizens.  Olga also graduated from Bryant and Stratton College in Boston.

Her first job was as a stitcher at College Town Clothiers in Boston working alongside her mother.  While raising a family in the later years she worked for Raytheon, Ripley Road Nursing Home, and had a 25-year career with the Registry of Motor Vehicles as Head Clerk in Boston, Brockton and Quincy.  Work was important, but her family always came first. Olga was very involved with the Cohasset School System and Cohasset Senior Center.  She also was very accomplished at cooking, embroidery and crocheting.  She made beautiful afghans for family, friends and senior citizens through the years.  During the year she spent at Allerton House in Hingham, her creative abilities expanded to charcoal drawings and water color paintings.  She was always active and concerned about others.

A private burial is planned at Woodside Cemetery in Cohasset.  Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Olga's life at a Memorial Service at the Second Congregational Church, 43 Highland Ave, Cohasset, MA, on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cohasset Senior Center Building Fund, PO Box 10, Cohasset, MA 02025.
