Owen Leary O'Malley died on March 19, 2021, after a brief illness complicated by Covid-19.  He was a life-long resident of Cohasset and active parishioner of St. Anthony's.

He was a 1955 graduate of Boston College High School where he developed a life-long love of Greek and Latin and a 1959 graduate of Boston College where he majored in the Classics.

In college, he worked summer jobs in construction;  after college, he worked in a bank as a teller and at a publishing house as a copy editor.  He taught Latin at Boston Latin High School for many years.  While at Boston Latin,  he attended New England Law  at night, becoming a member of the Massachusetts Bar in 1991.

He was a committed advocate and supporter of many Catholic causes.  He was an indulgent and generous uncle to his nieces and nephews, and continued to be delighted by the next generation of great nieces and great nephews.   He took many enviable trips.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Louis J. and Cornelia Leary O'Malley and his brothers, Charles, Louis and James.  He is survived by his brother Neil of New Orleans and sister Ann of Cambridge, sisters-in-law Kathy O'Malley of Hull and Karina O'Malley of Green Bay, several nieces and nephews, their children, and a lot of friends gathered from many different places, causes and interests.

His funeral Mass will be at St. Anthony's at 11 am on Thursday, March 25.  There will be a wake at McNamara Sparrell Funeral Home, directly across from the church, from 9 am to 10:45 immediately prior to the funeral.  He will be buried at Woodside Cemetery near other family members.   In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.

Because of current Covid restrictions, there will be no reception after the funeral.  The family plans a reception in the summer, when relatives and friends can travel and gather.
