Obituary

Patricia O'Neil-Howes, of Scituate, passed away on Nov. 20, 2014 at home. Born April 23, 1925 in Quincy, MA., to Mary Landers O'Neil and Capt. Edward O'Neil of the Quincy Fire Dept., Pat lived in many states but eventually came back to Massachusetts and settled in the "Gull Cottage", her cherished home of 50 years at the Scituate Seashore. Patricia attended Holy Trinity School in Boston and Mt. St. Joseph Academy in Brighton. In 1944, Pat and her first husband were attached to the Strategic Air Command and were stationed in several locations that included Colorado, California, Nebraska, Alabama and Washington DC. In 1950, Pat joined American Airlines where she worked for 30 years with many wonderful colleagues. She considered them all family. She retired with her husband, Sherman Howes, to Scituate in 1980 and became very active in the community. Pat volunteered at the Life Care Center in Scituate where she often worked with Alzheimer's Patients and also at local animal shelters.

Pat is survived by her cousin, Clair Martel, close friends June Tregere of Ft. Worth, TX, Norma Robbins of Scituate, Lt. Tom Mulloy and wife Judy of Scituate, and many others whom she loved dearly.

A Funeral Mass and memorial will be celebrated on Dec. 13, 2014 at 11 am in St. Anthony Church, 10 Summer St., Cohasset. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Pat may be made to Scituate Animal Shelter, 780 CJC Hwy., Scituate, MA. 02066.
