Patrick Paul Palimeri

Patrick "Buddy" Paul Palimeri of Scituate, passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2026, after a courageous fight with cancer. He was 84 years old. His wife Kathleen and his loving yellow lab Sunny were by his side, and he was surrounded by the love and support of family and friends.

Pat was born at Hartford Hospital on April 14, 1942, to Gloria and Patrick Palimeri. He grew up in Hartford, Connecticut, alongside his sister Judy and his dear cousins and close friends, Barbara and Celeste. After he graduated from Conard High School in West Hartford, he served in the Navy Reserves until the untimely death of his father, when he stepped in to support and care for his mother and sister.

Pat would go on to leave Connecticut for Boston, where he ran the valet service and parking lot at the famed Anthony's Pier 4. It was there he met a young waitress named Kathleen. They married after a romantic season together and settled down on North Main Street in Cohasset, where they raised their five children next door to Kathleen's parents, lovingly remembered as ‘Nana and Papa’. As they built their life together, Pat could often be found tinkering around the house and yard, starting a project here and there to fill his time outside of work. He built a community on the South Shore that would last a lifetime.

Pat began his career with Procter & Gamble at their former manufacturing plant in Quincy, starting on the soap production floor and eventually working his way up to a wastewater treatment supervisor for the plant. Following an early retirement from P&G, he spent many more years with Totman Enterprises, driving school buses for the Marshfield Public Schools and sports teams. Driving took him on many adventures across the South Shore and New England. He wore his self-proclaimed title of ‘Professional Driver’ with pride and fondly remembered the many students and families he met along the way, even after hanging up the bus keys.

Pat was happiest outdoors. Summers were spent on the boat — including many seasons at Dineen's Marina with Pat and Kathleen's crew down the Harbor — fishing down the dock at Salt Meadow, walking the neighborhood with Sunny, or cruising around town in his white Mustang, the "PPatio." He loved winter just as much. He was an avid cross-country skier in his younger years, and in the colder months he could be found splitting wood for the stove and plowing snow, which he kept doing until he was 83. For many winters, he worked at Tree-Berry Farm along with his grandsons, Patrick and Josh, cutting and hauling Christmas trees for the holiday season. He loved playing cards; for many years he could be found playing with his crew at the Marshfield Rod and Gun Club, and later with his daughter Alise, and grandson Josh. ( for the record, he usually, and predictably won.) A lifelong fan, Pat could be found on many a Sunday watching the Patriots at Janice and Tim's house.

In retirement, Pat and Kathleen traveled the world on AAA group trips, from Beijing to Paris and Nova Scotia to New Zealand, sharing laughs and memories and making many new friends along the way. Years after leaving the Navy Reserves, Pat proudly became a "shellback" by crossing the equator at sea, an honor he had long hoped to earn. Closer to home, he and Kathleen fulfilled a shared dream to stand at the Southernmost Point of the continental United States, driving from Miami to Key West. Pat often escaped the New England cold for a few weeks in Puerto Rico, where he, Barbara, and Celeste enjoyed time in the sun at the Amirage Guest House; in many an October, Pat could be found sipping chocolate martinis with Kathleen and friends on the patio at Bubala's by the Bay in Provincetown.

Pat is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Kathleen; his children Kelly; Michael and his wife Nancy; Alise and her husband Tim; Leah and her husband Rick; and the late Joseph Francis. He was the proud grandfather of Kate, Daniel, Patrick, Joshua, David, and Abby, and several wonderful great-grandchildren. He leaves behind his sister Judy and his loyal lab Sunny.

The Professional Driver has made his final trip, and we can only hope the roads are clear and the Mustang's top is down.

Services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, 10 Summer St, Cohasset, MA . Burial will be private.
