IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul
Laugelle
December 21, 1952 – July 2, 2025
Paul J. Laugelle, a devoted father, brother, and lifelong resident of Cohasset, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, at the age of 72, surrounded by the love of his family, after a long tough battle with his health.
A proud fourth-generation "townie," Paul was born and raised in Cohasset and dedicated his life to serving and supporting the community he cherished. He served as a police officer for the Town of Cohasset for several years, known for his steady presence, sense of fairness, and unwavering commitment to the people around him. Paul was also a dedicated coach for many years, mentoring local youth and creating lifelong memories on the sidelines.
He was the owner and operator of Laugelle & Sons, a business he built and ran for most of his life. The company became a family affair, with his sons John Paul and Craig working alongside him—John Paul in his younger years and Craig continuing the tradition in most recent years. Whether it was a normal job, hauling, or helping someone out in a pinch, Paul approached every job with integrity, pride, and the trademark grit that defined him.
Each winter, Paul could be found behind the wheel of his plow (or front loader), working through snowstorms for the Town of Cohasset and always making time to help neighbors and anyone who needed a hand. He never asked for thanks—he just showed up (although chocolate chip cookies or brownies never hurt).
He was a gifted storyteller—someone who could hold a room with a tale, a joke, or a well-placed wisecrack. He gave everyone a hard time in the way only someone who truly loved you could. Behind his humor was a deep and abiding love for his family, his friends, and his hometown.
Paul is survived by his children: John Paul Laugelle and his wife Krystle of Lebanon NH, Craig Laugelle of Cohasset MA, Leigh Leach and her husband Nathan of Scituate MA, and Rocco Laugelle and his longterm girlfriend MaryBeth Ayer of Cohasset, MA. He is also survived by his former wife and lifelong friend, Karen Laugelle; his siblings, Sean Laugelle and Meka-Mari Laugelle; his longtime girlfriend Siobhan Lynch of Cohasset MA; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and more who brought him immense joy and pride. He is being welcomed into his next life by his parents Rocco and Margaret, his sister Lisa-Anne, and many relatives and friends.
In 2023, Paul ran for a seat on the Cohasset Select Board, continuing the legacy of public service established by his father, Rocco F. Laugelle. During his campaign, he shared a simple but powerful vision: "We all want the same thing—to keep the small, quaint oceanside town that we all know and love." That belief shaped the way he lived his life.
A memorial service to celebrate Paul's life will be held on Saturday 7/12/2025 from 12-4pm at McNamara-Sparrell in Cohasset. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory may be made to SciCoh Football & Cheer- www.scicohfootball.com or Cohasset Football Gridiron at PO Box 223, Cohasset, MA 02025.
Paul J. Laugelle leaves behind a legacy of service, laughter, loyalty, and love. He will be deeply missed—and always remembered.
