Pauline "Polly" Wriston Pratt Small of the West End of Scituate, past away January 18, 2013 with loved ones by her side. Daughter of the late Paul Wriston Pratt and Rosella Berkley Litchfield Pratt, Mrs. Small was a typesetter and editor for the South Shore Mirror. She was an expert seamstress, a bird enthusiast, an avid reader and a talented knitter. As a knitter, she would make children's mittens and donate them to many shelters and charities. In earlier years, Mrs. Small would travel the South Shore and New England "poking" around for antiques. She enjoyed many interests but most of all she appreciated the simple pleasures of her life in the West End.

Born in Cohasset, Pauline lived "up the head" of Beechwood Street. She was a descendant of Phineas and Aaron Pratt who settled in Cohasset in 1649.

Pauline leaves behind her devoted husband of 61 years Richard Sears Small, loving sister Irene Berkley Dacey and was predeceased by sisters Lillian A Webster, Marilyn S Turner and brother Adin W Pratt.  Pauline is also survived by eight nieces and three nephews and their children as well as extended family, David and Cheri Dauphinee and their children.  Friends and relatives touched with memories of Polly over the years will miss her devotion, honesty, generosity, humor, determination and courage.

At Mrs. Small's request there are no services. Donations in her memory may be made to Scituate Fire Department, 164 First Parish Rd, Scituate, MA; South Shore VNA, 30 Reservoir Park Drive, Rockland, MA 02370; or to a charity of ones choice.
Mrs. Small's family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at South Shore Hospital, Cardigan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Renaissance Gardens for their care and compassion.
