Phillips N. Weeks of Scituate, died at his home at 27 Chittenden Road, on December 25, 2013, age 92. He was born August 25, 1921 in Calcutta, India. He graduated from Roxbury Latin School and then Harvard College in 1943. He joined the U.S. Army in 1943 and served as a First Lieutenant until 1947. He had lived in Scituate since 1927. He joined Loomis, Sayles & Company in 1946 and retired as a vice-president in 1987. He served on a range of Scituate town committees, beginning with the Advisory Board, and the early Personnel Board. He served a term as Park Commissioner, was chairman of the town's first Charter Commission, and of the Citizens Service Review Committee, and was appointed to several committees by the town's Board of Selectmen. In addition, he served a term as a trustee of the South Shore Hospital and several terms as an officer and trustee of the Scituate Historical Society. He was a member of the Satuit Band and of a barbershop group, the South Shore Men of Harmony. He was a member of the First Trinitarian Congregational Church in Scituate. Mr. Weeks was predeceased by his wife, Catherine, who died in 2000. He leaves five children: Peter and his wife, Kay, of Dallas, TX; Christopher and his wife, Paula (Mehegan), of Scituate; Martha and her husband, Fred, of Hillsborough, NC; Paula Bailey of Scituate; and David and his wife, Marjorie, of Wilbraham, MA; four grandchildren, Peter, Juli, Carolyn and Elizabeth; and a great-grandson, Jack. He also leaves his brother, Christopher Weeks, of Wilmington, DE. Over the years, he enjoyed braiding rugs, playing the saxophone, making corny jokes, coaching Little League teams, mowing his big yard, walking dogs at the animal shelter, petting his cat Rufus, and mailing newspaper articles to his kids.
