Obituary
Priscilla S. (Sands) Jevne, of Norwell, age 88, died peacefully at home on November 16 with her family at her side, following a brief illness. Beloved wife of the late Paul G. Jevne and loving mother of Suzanne Jevne and her partner Steve Forti of Norwell, Cynthia J. Buck of Fairfield, Iowa, and Paul S. Jevne and his wife Beth of Norwell. Loving grandmother of Lindsey, Katie, Christian, Dianna, and Mike. Sister of the late Donald Sands of Mill Valley, California, Roger Sands of Santa Barbara, California, and Richard Sands of Redwood City, California.
Born in Cambridge and raised in Belmont, Priscilla graduated from Belmont High School. Her father, who heartbreakingly passed away when she was thirteen years old, was president of King Arthur Flour. She attended Colby-Sawyer College and Chamberlain School of Retailing, then worked as a window dresser for Gilchrist's in downtown Boston and later as a stewardess with Eastern Airlines. A resident of Norwell since 1949, she became a Realtor in the 1950s and worked with her husband at Paul G. Jevne, Inc. until the mid-80s.
A much admired watercolorist specializing in New England barns and landscapes, Priscilla had a one-woman show at the James Library & Center for the Arts on her 85th birthday. She loved golfing and trips with her golfing buddies and her family. She also loved biking, cross-country skiing, bowling, tubing down the North River, Nantasket Beach, and her red VW bug.
Priscilla was known and loved by all for her cheerful, positive attitude, her fun-loving zest for life, and her great hugs. She was a joy and an inspiration to all and will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at 10 am in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 465 First Parish Rd., Scituate, MA 02066. In lieu of flowers, donations in Priscilla's memory may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Bay State Dr., Braintree, MA 02184 or to Norwell VNA & Hospice, 120 Longwater Cir., Norwell, MA 02061.
