Rebecca Linnell Ramsay, 80, formerly of Cambridge, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at The Current South Shore in Weymouth, Massachusetts, surrounded by the love and support of family.
Born in Concord, Massachusetts on January 28, 1946, Rebecca was the daughter of the late Robert Ramsay and the late Eve (Dyer) Ramsay. She earned a Master's Degree and dedicated much of her professional life to Harvard University, where she worked as an Assistant to a Professor in the Economics Department. She was known for her intelligence, dedication, and lifelong love of learning.
Rebecca spent most of her life in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a community she loved and called home for many years. In her final months, she moved to Cohasset to be closer to family and lived briefly with her nephew, Todd Newton Ramsay, and his family. As her care needs increased, she became a resident of The Current South Shore in Weymouth, where she received compassionate care and remained surrounded by the love and support of family until her passing.
Rebecca had a deep appreciation for nature and found joy in the beauty of the world around her. She loved animals, birds, flowers, and gardening. A lifelong vegetarian, she cared deeply about animals and the natural world. She enjoyed skating, yoga, painting, and reading. Rebecca was also a warm and friendly person who enjoyed conversation and meeting new people. Her gentle spirit, kindness, curiosity, and thoughtful nature touched the lives of those who knew her.
Rebecca was the beloved sister of the late Stephen Ramsay and the late Robert Ramsay. She is survived by her loving nephew, Todd Newton Ramsay, and his wife, Leann Ramsay, as well as other loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Rebecca will be remembered for her intelligence, kindness, gentle spirit, and love of nature. She found joy in life's simple pleasures and in the people around her. Her quiet warmth and appreciation for the beauty of the natural world left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home. Service information will be announced by the family.
