Robert Benjamin Margro, known affectionately as Ben or Rob, passed away unexpectedly on April 26, 2026, at his home in Norwell, Massachusetts. Born in Weymouth in 1980, Ben was the beloved son of Robert Bradley Margro and Dawnelle (Pompea) Margro, also of Norwell. He was a proud graduate of South Shore Vocational Technical School, where he specialized in electronics. After graduation, he remained local until enlisting in the United States Air Force in July 2000. He served his country honorably during the War on Terror and the Conflict in Afghanistan, carrying a deep sense of duty and commitment that would shape the rest of his life.

Following his military service, Ben returned to his hometown of Norwell and continued his dedication to public service. He worked as a 911 operator for the Norwell Police Department—a role made especially meaningful by the opportunity to work alongside his mother. He later served with the Norwell Water Department before becoming the Town Health Agent for the Norwell Board of Health. Ben took great pride in his many years of service. He was also a devoted board member of the South Shore Recycling Cooperative, reflecting his love of nature and care for the environment.

Those who knew Ben will remember his kindness, patience, and unwavering willingness to help others. He had a rare ability to listen without judgment and offer genuine compassion—qualities that made him a cherished friend, colleague, and community member. He enjoyed music of all kinds—especially classic and modern rock—as well as cars, electronics, video gaming, the outdoors, and martial arts. His nieces especially loved learning from him and were fascinated by his video arcade games, collectibles, and fish tank. He had a gentle, patient way about him that they both adored. Ben’s childhood was filled with adventure, including learning different trades, fishing, skateboarding, and spending time with friends. His generosity of spirit touched countless lives, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Ben leaves behind his mother, Dawnelle Margro of Norwell; his sister, Alyssa Vining and her husband, Scott, of Bridgewater; his nieces, Avery and Lylah; along with many cherished relatives, friends, colleagues, and a community he loved to serve.
