Robert “Bob” Winthrop Pease, 88, of Scituate, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Boston on January 27, 1938, to the late Guy and Elsie Pease.
Bob was raised in Dedham and was a graduate of Dedham High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Midway, an experience he talked about often throughout his life and one that sparked his lifelong love of travel.
Following his military service, Bob enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a lithographer with United Lithograph and ACME Printing in Somerville. Known for his meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail, he earned the affectionate nickname “Perfect Peasey.”
Bob and his beloved first wife Margaret “Peggy” Pease purchased their first home in Walpole before moving to Scituate where their three sons were raised. Later, he and his beloved second wife, Marilyn Cussen Pease, retired to Oak Point in Middleborough. There, they embraced retirement through travel, spending time with family and friends, pursuing their hobbies, playing cards, and volunteering with Meals on Wheels. In his later years, Bob returned to Scituate, where he was able to remain close to his sons and grandchildren.
Affectionately known as “Grampa Bob” he rarely missed an opportunity to celebrate his grandchildren’s milestones. Whether attending sporting events, dance recitals, school activities, graduations, or family gatherings, he took immense pride in each of them and treasured every moment spent together.
Bob was a man of many interests and talents. He was a talented photographer who was rarely seen without a camera in his hands. He took great pleasure in capturing the people, places, and experiences that were meaningful to him. Bob enjoyed skiing, boating, scuba diving, gardening, reading, history, and following the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. An avid traveler, he also treasured time with family and friends, whether playing cards, watching movies, taking long walks along the beach, sharing good seafood, or swapping stories and discussions about history.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Elsie Pease; his first wife, Margaret “Peggy” Pease; his second wife, Marilyn Cussen Pease; and his beloved son, Daniel Pease.
He is survived by his sons, Gregory Pease and his wife, Rita, of Scituate, and Jonathan Pease of Scituate; his daughter-in-law, Megan Pease, of Cranbury, New Jersey; his twin sisters, Joanie Alexander and Lois McCarthy; his grandchildren, Alex, Maggie, Luke, Evan, Cameron, and Morgan; as well as many extended family and friends who will miss him greatly.
He will be remembered by all who knew him for his kindness, humor, and quiet strength.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to a veterans’ organization of your choice or to the Scituate Animal Shelter, 780 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Scituate, MA or at scituateanimalshelter.org
