Robert V. Davenport, age 71, of Scituate, formerly of Cohasset, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2014. Beloved husband for 48 years of Barbara T. (Sestito). Devoted father of Robert V. "Rob" Davenport and wife M.J. of Northfield, MN; and Dr. James M. "Jamie" Davenport, Au.D. and wife Gerianne of New London, CT. Loving grandfather and beloved "Bumpa" of Elena and Katie Davenport of Northfield, MN. Brother of John Davenport of Hingham, Dottie Hiltz of Hingham, and Betty Magner of Pembroke. Mr. Davenport is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Robert was a recipient of the Forrest E. King Award given for his outstanding and dedicated service to the town of Cohasset. Mr. Davenport was so heavily involved in the community, not only owning and operating Elena Sestito Florist & Gift Shops, Inc. with his wife, Barbara, but he also volunteered on the Cemetery, Zoning, Police and Fire Renovation committees and the Cohasset Board of Health, in addition to being a former director of the Cohasset Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Davenport was also a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1961-1964. He was also a member of the St. George's Club in Bermuda.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11 am in St. Anthony Church, 10 Summer St., Cohasset. Visiting hours Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 South Main St.(across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. Interment Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset. Those who wish to send flowers may and those who wish to send, donations to honor Mr. Davenport may be made to a charity of one's choice.
