Robert P. Dowling, 62, of Purcellville, Virginia, formerly of Weymouth and Scituate, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011.  Born July 24, 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of the late Edward J. Dowling and Anna Claire (McDonald) Dowling. Robert was soon to celebrate 35 years of marriage with his wife Renda A. (Gunn) Dowling.  Bob was a devoted father to Brian, Robert, and Renda Elisabeth (Lizzie).  He was beloved brother of Edward J. Dowling, Jr. who resides in Centerville, MA.  Bob leaves a large extended family including Edward's wife Michele, Pam and Thom Rice, Peter and Brigid Gunn, Paul S. Gunn, nieces and nephews and a much loved Mother-in-Law Renda Irene Gunn.  He is also survived by a sister, Judith Dowling Cable, residing in Pompono Beach, Florida.

Bob was a career professional in the restaurant business, working most recently as Regional Vice President of Operations for California Pizza Kitchen.  He was also an avid golfer and outdoor sportsman.  Bob most enjoyed spending time with his family.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, 10 Summer St., Cohasset, MA. 02025. Visiting hours Wednesday, May 25 from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset, MA. Bob was a veteran of the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Navy; as such will be laid to rest during a private burial with close family.
