Robert Clayton Ernst, Sr. of Cohasset passed away February 23, 2014 at the age of 98.  Beloved husband for 61 years of the late Ann Melis Ernst.  Devoted father of the late Marianne Ernst Cortelli of Solon, Ohio and survived by his son Robert C. Ernst Jr. and his wife Mary, both of Cohasset, MA. Bob is also survived by his son-in-law John Cortelli, his grandchildren Lisa Cortelli Parks and her husband Scott, Gwynne Cortelli, Lauren Cortelli as well as Gregory, Michael, Catherine, Peter, Luke and Maggie Ernst and great grandchildren Jordan and Maria Parks.

Bob was born in Jersey City, NJ June 5, 1915, one of 3 boys. As a young man, he was a standout student, graduating from both CCNY and NYU.  Bob's career spanned many decades as a business efficiencies expert for American Locomotive Co, Standard Oil of Ohio, Central National Bank of Cleveland and Lincoln Rochester Trust Company.

Bob moved to Cohasset with his wife Ann in 2006.  He quickly became engaged in his favorite pastimes of golf, fishing and "stirring the pot" in town politics especially the building of a Cohasset Senior Center.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. Visiting hours Sunday, March 2, 2-5 p.m. at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset.  Interment  Beechwood Cemetery, Cohasset.
