Robert P. Gunville, "Bob", "Papa", age 80, formerly of Cohasset, passed away peacefully on June 24th after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Bob was born and raised in Cohasset with his parents, the late Francis and Amelia Gunville. He was a devoted husband of the late Kathleen (Looney) and Anne (Bunszel) and loving father of Daniel Gunville, Lisa and her husband John Gargiulo both of Hull, the late Robert M. Gunville and his daughter in-law, Linda Gunville. Bob had two brothers the late Francis Gunville and twin brother Richard (Dick). He is survived by 6 grandchildren Kerri and Katelyn Costa and Travis, Hannah and Brigid Gunville and Kati Gargiulo. Bob is also survived by his sister's in-law Lucy Gunville, Barbara Gunville, and Nancy Signorelli as well as his brother in-law William Signorelli. Bob's many nieces and nephews will greatly miss their "Uncle Bob".
Bob graduated from Sacred Heart High school in Weymouth and then enlisted in the US Air Force. Bob had an impressive military career in the US Air Force where he spent part of his service in the Philippines alongside his twin brother Dick. Bob was assigned to SAC – Strategic Air Command and was a Staff Sergeant at Dow Air Force Base in Maine as a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist. He was also awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He attended school at the East Coast Aero Tech and worked for many years for Eastern Airlines where he was an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist. Bob enjoyed being around people and loved life. He truly had a young spirit and never considered himself "old". He will be loved and missed by countless people.
A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, 10 Summer St., Cohasset. Visiting hours, Thursday, June 26 from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. Interment Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset.
