Robert Alan Pattison, affectionately known as Bob or Gramps passed away peacefully on his 81st birthday surrounded by family. He was the son of the late John L. and Gladys F. Pattison and beloved brother of the late Paul L. Pattison, Richard A. Pattison, Gerald L. Pattison, and John W. Pattison.
He leaves behind his son Brian Pattison and daughter Kim Ryan, who he shared a particularly close bond and were an important part of his daily life. He is also survived by his children Robert Pattison Jr., Stephen Pattison, and Gretchen McGowan, as well as several grandchildren.
One of Bob’s special bonds was with his grandson, Brian Pattison Jr., whom he shared many of the things he loved most. From lobstering and clamming to teaching him the importance of hard work and how to “be a man.” Bob passed along more than just his hobbies. He passed along lessons, traditions, and memories that will stay with Brian for a lifetime.
He was born in Abington, Massachusetts, and raised in Cohasset, where he spent his life and built countless memories. A proud lifelong Cohasset resident, Bob was a familiar face around town and could often be spotted driving his red truck, cruising in his Corvette, or riding around on his red scooter. If it was red, chances are Bob loved it.
Bob was an extremely hardworking man who never knew when to quit. He was gracious, generous, and the kind of person who would do just about anything for anyone. He believed in working hard, lending a hand, and standing by the people who meant the most to him. He was a true townie, proud of his roots and the community he called home.
He had a deep love for the ocean and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including lobstering, clamming, and junking. Whether out on the water, exploring around town, or simply enjoying a conversation, Bob found happiness in the things he loved most.
Bob was fortunate to have many lifelong friends, but he never stopped making new ones. He had a way of connecting with people from all walks of life, never judging anyone by what they had or didn’t have. To Bob, a person’s worth had nothing to do with their possessions. He made friends wherever he went, and his generosity and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Bob will be remembered for his unmistakable presence around town, his love of the ocean, his hardworking spirit, and his big heart. He was one of a kind, and there will never be another quite like him.
