IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert J.
Riley
September 19, 1937 – January 15, 2025
Dr. Robert J. Riley, age 87, of Sebastian, FL, and formerly of Cohasset, MA, died on January 15, 2025 after a brief illness. He was born in Milton, MA, to John J. Riley, Jr. and Helen F. (Kenney) Riley. An insatiable lifelong learner, he graduated from Boston College High School, followed by Boston College (class of 1959). He then trained at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 1963. He married the love of his life, the late Alice M. (Coleman) Riley, with whom he shared fifty years of marriage. Subsequently, he served as an officer for two years in the United States Air Force. After that, he served in private practice as a general dentist in lovely Cohasset for nearly thirty years, which he found tremendously fulfilling. Bob and Alice raised their children there and enjoyed an active social life with lots of friends and extended family. In retirement, they moved to sunny Sebastian, FL. Bob was always busy, and he loved working on projects and mechanical interests of every sort. He and Alice enjoyed traveling extensively in their motorhome around the US and Canada. It should also be noted that he was a devoted Bruins fan.
Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife Alice, his infant son Robert J. Riley, Jr., and his brother John. He is survived by his son William (MaryChris), daughters Elizabeth (Jeff), Susan (Mike), and Nancy (Greg), and his beloved grandchildren Andy (Emily), Justin (Clara), Stephen, Jillian, Lynn, Grant, Angela, Timothy, and Clara, as well as several dear nieces and nephews. His family was the joy of his life.
Bob's life will be honored with a wake at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home in Cohasset from 4-7 pm on Sunday, January 26, 2025. There will be a mass at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cohasset at 10:00 am on Monday, January 27th. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, https://www.newtoncountryday.org/give/ways-to-give.
