Robert H. Wirth of Cohasset, age 86, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 following a lengthy illness.  He grew up in Quincy, MA.  He served during WWII in the 114th infantry division of the Army and was stationed in Germany, Austria and France.  During his time in Germany, he was assigned to assist in the release of concentration camp prisoners.  He attained the rank of sergeant.  When he returned to the United States, he served as General Eisenhower's personal liaison at the Pentagon.  His most treasured memento from this time was a signed autograph of General Eisenhower with a personal greeting.  He was awarded the Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service and the Bronze Star.  He attended Bryant & Stratton Business School on the GI Bill.  He married Jacqueline V. Hanson June 24, 1950.  He was a project manager and systems analyst at HP Hood for 45 years.  Bob was an avid gardener and cribbage master.  He was a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Jacqueline of Cohasset, MA, brother Jack of San Diego, CA, son Robert and wife Debora of Mansfield, MA, son Stephen and his girlfriend Donna Casey of Hull, MA, son James and his wife Maureen of Cotati, CA and five grandchildren: Nicholas, Alison, Kathryn, James and Audrey.

A private graveside service will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Robert may be made to the Boston Red Sox Foundation and MGH Home Base Program at 4 Yawkey Way, Boston, MA  02115 or call 617-226-6614.
