Sandra J. (Taft) Gurney, age 64 , of Whitman, formerly of Rockland, passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2025 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous two decade battle with cancer. Wife of Mark R. Gurney of Hanover. Loving mother of Michael R. Parsons of Whitman, Kevin R. Gurney of Whitman, Mark W. Gurney of Whitman, and Matthew M. Gurney of Hanover. Sandra wil be remembered for the loving devotion she showed to her granddaughter,  Mickaela Parsons of Whitman.  Grandmother of Nathan Gurney of Hanover. Daughter of the late William and Carole Taft. Sister of William Taft of Hanson, Cheryle Rumble of Rockland, Marilyn Turnesa of Whitman, Robert Taft of Hanover, Gary Taft of Rockland and their spouses. Also survived by many loving family members.

Sandra was a graduate of Rockland High School and Massassoit College with a Nursing Degree. She worked as a registered nurse for many years in home health care, psychiatric nursing and others. Sandra enjoyed sunset rides to Nantasket Beach and planning vacations and parties with her family, including their cherished trip to Cape Cod with her sons and granddaughter.  She also loved a trip to her favorite country music concerts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 19, 2025 at 10 am in Our Lady of the Angels St. Mary, 392 Hanover Street, Hanover, MA. 02339. Interment Woodside Cemetery, N. Main St., Cohasset, MA.
