Obituary

Sheila Claire Conley Jackson

November 20, 1971 - January 26, 2025

Sheila Conley Jackson of Cohasset passed on January 26, 2025 in the company of family and friends at the Pat Roche Hospice House in Hingham. She is the beloved mother of daughters Lylah and Farrah, Cohasset High School senior and junior respectively, and wife of their father John Jackson.

Sheila was born on November 20, 1971 at Cape Cod Hospital to Mary (Barry) Conley and the late William (Bill) Conley, and is the youngest of their four children. Sheila is survived by her loving mother Mary of Yarmouthport, sister Maura Stanley and her husband Craig of Hopkinton and their children Michael, Nicholas, and Samantha, Brother Barry and his wife Janet of Fredericksburg, Virginia and their children Jackson, Nicolas, and Carly, and brother William (Bill) and his wife Karen of Ellington, Connecticut and their children William (Billy), Kelly, and Courtney, and a prolifically supportive cast of cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Sheila was raised in Yarmouth, graduating from Dennis-Yarmouth High School where she played on the state-champion D-Y Dolphins girls' field hockey team before attending Boston University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication. She worked in underwriting for WGBH in Cambridge for a number of years before marriage in 2004 and motherhood in 2006. She, John, and their two young girls Lylah and Farrah lived in Dorchester's Adams Village neighborhood so the children could earn their "OFD" bona fides, before moving to Cohasset in 2009.

Sheila was a magnetic, spiritual, and radiant presence, bound to have a life of meaningful connections with a great many people through her sincerity, friendship, laughter, listening, and wisdom. Indeed it was so until she passed, with family and her oldest, dearest childhood friend Jill Hurley of Gloucester at her side, and so many others offering gifts of grace for having had Sheila touch their lives.

She was a devoted and nurturing mother and a regular fixture at her daughters' school and extracurricular activities as they grew. As her children grew more independent, she turned more of her motherly attention toward Lola the dog, with whom she was regularly seen out for walks around Cohasset Village and Harbor. Sheila loved the outdoors - especially time on the water with friends and family at the Hull or Cohasset Yacht Club, or the family's not-quite-annual Caribbean bareboat sailing charter.

Spirituality was at the core of Sheila's being, and she embraced it in full following her cancer diagnosis in 2019. She kept mindful of others while putting her innate understanding of mind-body connectivity into focused practice. This allowed her to continue living life to the fullest with calmness both within and without. Her time in the world was extended. She used it to live even more thoughtfully, inspiring all who knew her and were with her in body or spirit throughout her journey.

A Celebration of Life event will be held in accordance with Sheila's wishes at a time and place to be determined in the summer months, the details of which will be updated here as soon as they are available.
