Stavros "Steve" Cosmopulos, age 87, of Norwell and East Dennis, formerly of Dorchester, passed away suddenly on Nov. 28, 2014. Beloved husband of Rena M. (Ouellette) Cosmopulos and devoted father of Nicholas S. Cosmopulos and wife Susan of Seekonk, MA; Thea Y. Cosmopulos and companion John Salamone of Scituate. Adoring grandfather of William, Ryan, and Eric Cosmopulos.
Mr. Cosmopulos was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy. Steve is the legendary founder of Hill, Holiday, Connors, Cosmopulos, Boston, where he served as chairman of the board and co-creative director. An internationally recognized creative director, Steve has developed award-winning work for Data General, Dexter Shoes, Dodge, Dunkin Donuts' "Munchkins", Hood, Fenway Franks, Fleet Bank, Maine Tourism Bureau, Pepsi, Polaroid, Spaulding, Wang and many other high-profile clients. His numerous awards include Andys, Hatch, Addys, Clios, One Show, New York Art Directors Club and a bronze lion from the Cannes Advertising Film Festival. In addition to Hill, Holiday, Connors, Cosmopulos, Boston, Steve served as founder and creative director of Advertising Associates of Palm Beach; Cosmopulos, Crowley, Daly, Boston; Palmer, Cosmopulos, Palmer, New York; Cosmopulos Lee, Boca Raton; Cahill-Cosmopulos Connecticut, and Cosmopulos-Jones, Boston. He was twice named one of America's 100 outstanding creative minds and is a member of the New England Advertising Hall of Fame. In addition, Steve served as an advertising, design and marketing consultant to advertising agencies, publishers and corporations worldwide.
He has spoken all over the world including: Israel, Ireland, Belfast, London, Germany
and colleges and universities and business and Advertising clubs all over the United States. His quotes from Google are copied and used in advertising and business extensively.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014 at 9 am in St. Helen Church, 383 Washington Street, Norwell, MA. 02061. Visiting hours Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014 from 3-7 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center.
