Stephen R. Appel, 77 of Norwell, MA passed away on April 16, 2025, at his home.

Stephen was born in Boston, MA in 1948 to Donald and Barbara Appel. In 1969 he married Katherine Wright. They lived in Scituate, then Whitman and eventually moved to Norwell in 1984. Mr. Appel is survived by his wife Katherine, his three children – Kevin, Steve, and Julie and his three grandchildren – Daniel, Michael, and Ethan. He also leaves his brother Roger of California and his Uncle Bruce Billings of Scituate.

Stephen went to Norwell High School and then served in the Army for three years from 1969-1972. He loved his boat, fishing and had a deep passion for music and hi-fi audio equipment which much of what he owned he built and customized himself. Steve, as he preferred to be called, was a lifelong, well respected, auto, truck and eventually marine mechanic.

No formal services are planned. At his request, he will be cremated and ashes spread in the ocean near Scituate harbor.
